Sistaz In Sound

"Sistaz In Sound" is a grassroots community group that offers support to Black Caribbean and African women, caregivers, youth and families.

Based in Rexdale, "S.I.S" was founded by Adjoba Messam, who is a black maternal health advocate, professional musician and doula.

As such, "Sistaz In Sound" provides music, beading and other creative wellness programs, mentorship, advocacy and sistahood to women of the Afrodiaspora.

Awarded the TO Wards Peace Grant, "Sistaz In Sound" launched their inaugural music program called "Peace S.I.S!" which was held at Rexdale Community Hub.

In response to the recent crisis of homelessness of African refugees on the streets of Toronto, Adjoba created the "Birth United Initiative" to provide settlement/social support, doula services and a network of care for pregnant newcomers and their babies.

Follow us on our journey of love, connection and the sheer joy of music!
